Bike Talk v.013 🚲
It
seems there's real momentum growing for products made in the USA once again.
I'm happy to say that since my initial blog about there not being enough
technology produced within our borders, I am finding more companies trying to
carve out a piece of this newly booming electric industry.
The
electric bike industry is getting bigger thanks to North American companies
that are contributing to this growing culture. Soon, hub motors and mid drives
will be the standard for western bike riders and companies like UrbaNext will
be helping to lead the way.
UrbaNext
is a company still in the start-up phase, like many of us who seek to find a
place in this new world of "e". They make Front Hub Conversion
Motors, which are similar to the Swytch Kit but, without the handlebar battery
pack. What you get with this kit is a 240W-350W Front Hub motor, 1-2 swappable
battery 36V, Thumb Throttle, Phone Mount, Battery Charger 1.5Hrs charging time,
and Universal Tire.
UrbaNext
has two motor types the UrbanX Eco 240W, 15MPH, and UrbanX Booster 350W, 20MPH.
The motor has a 30-mile range, weighs 15 pounds this includes the battery,
spokes, rim, and tire. The weight alone is exceptionally light which makes the
bike easier to handle allowing the motor to be used for 99% of or any bike! The
charging time is shorter than any I've seen so far! UrbaNext has a unique three
pedal-assist system that is controlled via the UrbaNext mobile app, smart
technology to suit a smart hub motor.
As
I stated before this company is still in start-up, they are currently taking
pledges to help grow the brand into major production. You can get a kit for 52%
off retail. The pledge amount ranges from $299-$798.
